I encountered this peculiar bug one day while sitting on my back porch. As I was watching it, I began to consider the fact that I had been exploring the movement of hinged opening only on a horizontal plane. I wondered what would happen if I changed the axis and froze the action. So much of my work has maintained some form of motion. I welcomed this challenge to make a piece that does not move but rather describes a single moment in time.
