never spoken
2014
porcelain, dimensions variable
never spoken is an ephemeral porcelain pathway built atop, beside, around, and into found locations. First installed in the formal gallery setting at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, this piece is composed of hundreds of slip cast porcelain bricks, the black bricks representing the dots and dashes of Morse code. As these bricks are laid out, letters, words, phrases, and sentences are revealed.
Each new installation site provides a variety of factors for consideration, including environment, event, and emotion, and so, a new and different message emerges each time the piece is assembled.
